Thank you for the award Yale University!

Imagine my surprise when my agent sent me an email stating I’d been selected to receive an award from Yale University?!? I had no previous affiliation and no idea how I’d made it on the radar of the student run conference, which was celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary. This honor is added to the many accomplishments I would never have seen for myself, growing up one of a few students of color in the suburbs of Missouri. As a child and also young adult, I saw my future as being one of the few in the predominately white social and professional spaces I moved through. To have received an award from the “Black Solidarity Conference” continues to awe me. I’m also inspired to keep moving forward to clear the way for those who can’t see a path for themselves.
